Stony Brook University: Provost Office: College of Arts & Sciences: Provost-Neurobiology and Behavior **Salary Range or Pay Grade** $75,000 -- $85,000 **Description** The Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at Stony Brook University invites applications for a lecturer starting Fall semester 2025. The successful candidate will teach physiology and neurobiology to undergraduates in B.S. and B.A. programs in the life sciences: a core offering is a large-enrollment, introductory physiology lecture course that uses scientific teaching and active learning methods in both conventional and "flipped" formats. The incumbent will also teach, together with current faculty, in advanced undergraduate courses, including a neurobiology lab course. Applicants should have strong foundational knowledge in biology with depth in neurobiology or physiology, and a proven record of effective undergraduate teaching, especially with students from diverse backgrounds. The incumbent will effectively engage students in both large and small enrollment courses, and will work with an active, collaborative group of research and instructional faculty to develop and implement innovative, evidence-based pedagogy in the life sciences. At least two semesters of teaching physiology, neurobiology or a closely related biology subject at the undergraduate level. **Preferred qualifications** PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in neurobiology, physiology, or a closely related biology subject. Research experience in neurobiology, physiology, or a closely related biology subject. At least one semester's experience as primary instructor / instructor of record. Formal training in educational pedagogy and assessment. Experience in curricular design and innovation. Facility with current teaching technologies including digital accessibility and with learning management systems. Experience in effective use of active learning and other non-lecture-based instructional methods.
