Leave of Absence Specialist
If you are an HR Benefits Professional that specializes in Leave of Absence support, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you in Shakopee, MN! The Leave of Absence Program Specialist plays a vital role in handling employee health and wellness in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for the administration, compliance, and strategic oversight of all Leave of Absence (LOA) programs, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.    In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Leave of Absence & Policy Management

Administer and track leaves in accordance with FMLA, ADA, and applicable state/local leave laws, support compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.  Serve as the SME on leave policy, interpreting laws and applying them consistently across the organization. Develop, update, and enforce internal leave-related policies in collaboration with HR and EHS teams. Will have direct supervisory responsibility over the LOA  Administrator. 

State Paid Leave Program Oversight

Lead the implementation and management of new state-mandated leave programs, including the Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML). Provide expertise on policy alignment, medical leave requirements, and operational troubleshooting. Act as the main resource for employees and managers on state leave programs.

HRIS & Data Management

Ensure accuracy of leave data within HRIS systems. Partner with HR Analysts to compile, analyze, and report on leave metrics and trends. Maintain data integrity and support audits and reporting needs.

Vendor and Stakeholder Collaboration

Liaise with third-party LOA administrator and internal team members to optimize the leave administration experience. Coordinate and collaboration with HR, EHS, Occupational Health, Payroll, and Legal teams to ensure consistent communication and issue resolution. Drive continuous improvement in leave processes and enhance the employee experience. Who You Are:

For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field  5+ years of experience leading LOA programs, preferably in a manufacturing or complex organization Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism.  Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $135,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
