Lease Specialist
Overview The Lease Specialist supports the real estate legal team primarily by drafting real estate leases, amendments and other related documents. As well as, abstracting leases and maintaining a variety of lease tracking and other real estate reports. The Lease Specialist interacts with individuals at all levels of the business regarding business objectives and legal risk analysis. Overview of Responsibilities Draft real estate leases, amendments, contracts and other ancillary documents (g., letters of intent, REA documents, SNDAs, estoppels, Commencement Date Certificates, Memorandum of Leases, Final Lease Review Memos, Delivery Conditions Memos, consent letters and other real estate legal documents) required to lease new and existing leases. Perform assignments, projects and duties as needed to assist with the achievement of business objectives as assigned by the Deputy General Counsel – Real Estate. Maintain records and documentation of completed real estate transactions. Collaborate and effectively communicate with other functional areas of the business such as construction, facilities management, lease administration, tax, finance, accounting, risk, and procurement. Interact effectively and efficiently with the Company’s external counsel and any opposing parties as needed. Represent the legal team in a helpful and professional manner. Responsible for creating and maintaining complex reports, preparing notices and correspondence, and maintaining a database of information. Administrative tasks, including but not limited to, managing correspondence for the Real Estate Legal team, sorting, sending and delivering mail and overnight packages for Real Estate Legal; Updating the Lease Administration database. Abstracts legal documents including leases, amendments, commencement date certificates, and updates the database. #LI-CS1 Qualifications Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program or equivalent or up to three (3) years of experience in drafting real estate legal documents such as leases, amendments, and other ancillary documents (g., letters of intent, REA documents, SNDAs, estoppels, Commencement Date Certificates, and Memorandum of Leases). Bachelor’s degree preferred with exposure to laws and legal requirements applicable to contracts. Self-starter/independent worker with a high level of creativity, and an ability to creatively solve problems Good understanding of various legal processes. Ability to read and understand legal documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. In addition, the ability to effectively speak and present to large groups is required. Strong project management skills with the ability to create and implement efficient execution strategies and methodologies appropriate for a retail services environment. Must enjoy helping people and have a patient, tactful manner. An outstanding eye for detail with a drive to provide exceptional administrative support. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong and quick decision-making and analytical abilities. Ability to utilize appropriate discretion and judgment in dispensing information. Strong work ethic and team player mentality with a positive, proactive attitude. Ability to multi-task and consistently meet aggressive and time-sensitive deadlines. Candidates must have permanent U.S. work authorization to be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook.
