About the Innovative Learning at Humber:

Innovative Learning at Humber is a dynamic center for teaching and learning, driven by our commitment to belonging, equity, and sustainability. We harness human spirit and creativity to empower faculty in crafting exceptional student experiences. Our Polytechnic redefines education by integrating industry expertise into a curriculum that meets evolving employer needs. We envision faculty as facilitators, bridging the gap between classroom and industry, thereby strengthening our community and future.

We provide the leadership, infrastructure, and support for faculty to adopt new teaching techniques, explore advanced digital and AI tools, and push boundaries to ensure students gain the skills and competencies needed for both employment and lifelong employability. The Innovative Learning team is essential in helping faculty cultivate the skills and attributes that define a polytechnic education.

About the Learning Technology Advisor Role:

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Digital Learning, the Learning Technology Advisor (LTA) is a member of the Innovative Learning Support Centre (ILSC) team and is responsible for high-quality, responsive technical support to faculty and students using teaching and learning technologies. The LTA is responsible for promptly responding to inquiries via Teams Voice or virtual meeting, email, or in-person at one of the institution’s support centres. The nature of requests supported by the incumbent may involve the Humber Learning Management System (LMS), common and emerging EdTech tools, physical resources used for teaching content creation and delivery including video conferencing tools, screen-casting and podcasting systems, mixed-reality set ups, and other technologies and systems commonly used at Humber. The LTA may also assist with the development with help documentation and the delivery of workshops for faculty and students.

The Learning Technology Advisor is responsible for monitoring the ILSC ticketing system and accepting and actioning support tickets in a prompt and complete manner, including providing data that will ensure that follow-up occurs in a timely way. The LTA will utilize good communication practices to clearly identify support issues and prompt resolutions or escalations. The incumbent will flag trends and recurring challenges reported by clients to a Learning Technology Specialist for further investigation and support. Where additional support is required due to the length or complexity of the request, the Learning Technology Advisor transitions the client to a Learning Technology Specialist (LTS).

The incumbent maintains up-to-date knowledge of all IL supports and processes, in addition to a broad knowledge of college-wide processes and services to facilitate high-quality service delivery for a wide range of clients’ needs. When new technologies are introduced, the Learning Technology Advisor must become familiar enough to provide onboarding and trouble-shooting support for relevant clients (faculty, students, staff). For this reason, the LTA is required to have current knowledge of many systems and their interconnections and a demonstrated willingness to keep current with an ever-evolving toolkit.
