Join Our Engineering Team as the Learning & Development (L&D) Manager!

This role offers a unique combination of strategic leadership coupled with the chance to directly design and develop learning solutions. As the L&D Manager, you will lead the Engineering L&D strategy, oversee a global team of talented L&D Specialists that deliver impactful eLearning or instructor-led training for complex technical topics, and when needed, you will keep your instructional design skills fresh by developing eLearning courses. We are seeking a forward-thinking Learning and Development Manager who goes beyond traditional training approaches — someone who actively tracks emerging trends, embraces innovative learning technologies, and continuously evolves strategies to meet the dynamic needs of a modern workforce. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Defines and evolves the L&D strategy for a global powersports Engineering team 

Demonstrates curiosity and drive to benchmark and stay current on evolving training and technology trends, including AI, to define 5-year learning roadmaps with investments outlined  

Leads a global team of L&D Specialists responsible for instructional design and development, including eLearning courses and instructor-led training for technical and complex engineering / product development topics 

Oversees all training impacting Engineering, whether created by the Engineering team or cross-functional partners to create unified and consistent learning experiences for engineering stakeholders 

Drives maturity and adoption of the enterprise Learning Management System, Workday Learning 

Responsible for the L&D budget, prioritization, resource utilization, and technology to ensure efficient and effective training investments 

Defines and manages the team’s operational framework to ensure comprehensive processes, compliance, and efficient execution 

Responsible for defining governance, structure, and standard work to ensure trusted, relevant training content and materials are available to a global team of engineers  

Assesses knowledge and skill gaps to strategically identify and resolve critical gaps, aligned to organization’s current and future strategic needs 

Provides executive reports on training effectiveness and recommendations for future continuous improvement actions to increase maturity of the learning organization​ 

Collaborates with other training teams in the company to share knowledge and mature together 

Fosters and promotes a culture of learning, where continuous learning is valued and supported, encouraging employees to develop new skills to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness 

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION 

Required: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Engineering, or related field  

At least four years of experience leading learning strategy and managing a global team of instructional designers / training specialists with strong resource management experience 

At least six years of experience in instructional design for technically complex product development related training content 

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build collaborative relationships in a matrix environment 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization 

Internally driven self-starter focused on outcomes and business value delivered 

Leadership experience establishing operational framework, support, and sustainability for L&D team 

Deep expertise of Learning Management System (LMS) features and functionality and strong data analysis skills needed to effectively manage training programs 

Experience with design and authoring tools, including Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Vyond, Adobe Creative Cloud applications 

Financial acumen (budget, forecast, long range planning) 

Preferred: 

Master's Degree or MBA 

At least three years of training experience in Automotive, Powersports, or related industries 

Experience designing and developing training programs for engineers 

Portfolio of online learning courses you’ve developed to demonstrate experience and proficiency 

Workday Learning expertise 

Professional certifications, such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), Certified Training and Development Manager (CTDM), or similar credentials 

Proven success cultivating a medium to large-sized team into a learning organization

​The starting pay range for Minnesota is $105,000 to $132,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.  While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.   

To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
