Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. As a Lead CT Technologist, you will provide CT imaging as well as supervise and support other caregivers on the team.
**A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00am-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide computed tomography imaging and patient care services at defined levels.
+ Maintain patient safety and comfort.
+ Supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel.
+ Schedule work assignments and prepare the master schedule.
+ Perform payroll time sheets for caregivers.
+ Train, counsel, discipline, and evaluate the performance of caregivers.
+ Assist with interviewing applicants and recommend selection.
+ Maintain procedure manuals and communicate changes to caregivers.
+ Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law and assist with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
+ Assist with instrument calibration and record to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
+ Ensure and maintain quality control in regard to patient care and equipment usage.
+ Ensure quality assurance tests are performed daily/weekly and all policies and procedures are adhered to.
+ Schedule routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards.
+ Instruct other area personnel in radiation protection and ensure their safety.
+ Check and prepare patients prior to CT study.
+ Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and review both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
+ Verify that the patients' demographic data is correct in all applicable systems.
+ Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
+ Assist with scheduling of patients as needed.
+ Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
+ Perform venipuncture as necessary and maintain competencies.
+ Maintain all aspects of the CT area including the technical and clerical components to ensure proper quality assurance results, maintenance of required documentation and keep the area in a state of inspection readiness and compliance (i.e. JCAHO, ODH, etc.)
+ Remain knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS, when applicable, and in after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
+ Provide coverage as needed (i.e. in the event of call off or extended patient schedules).
+ Be assigned to primarily one specific site, but required to cover other modalities, sites and/or locations as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of an accredited education program in Radiography
+ Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing
+ Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required: R.T.(R) (CT) (ARRT).
+ Current state licensure (RL)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
+ Two years of recent modality experience
+ Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
+ Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
