We are currently seeking a Power Electronics Lead Technician to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The level will depend on the candidate’s experience. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, possess the ability to learn quickly, and take ownership of responsibilities with minimal oversight.
The Role:
• Lead day-to-day activities in the Power Electronics lab, ensuring technician assignments and lab operations align with team priorities and project schedules
• Support test setup and execution for power electronics, including EOL and software tests
• Coordinate lab test resources and technician workflows in collaboration with test engineers and project leads
• Perform and monitor validation tests per test plans
• Act as primary point of contact for lab-related escalations and troubleshooting efforts
• Mentor and train junior technicians on technical tasks, best practices, and lab safety procedures
• Support failure analysis/root cause analysis for failed units and components
• Wire high voltage cables, coolant lines, and low voltage cables to test stations
• Rework PCBAs and support prototype builds
• Troubleshoot setup errors and resolve issues proactively
• Prepare custom harnesses and connectors based on engineering requirements
• Maintain lab organization and cleanliness according to 5S methodology and safety standards
• Manage lab inventory, tools, and equipment; coordinate procurement of consumables and parts as needed
• Ensure consistent and accurate documentation of test results, rework, and configuration changes
• Represent the technician team in cross-functional meetings and contribute to lab process improvements
Qualifications:
• Advanced knowledge of electrical circuits and components
• Strong background in high-voltage systems and safe HV handling practices• Proficient in the use of testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzer, DAQs, etc.
• Proficient in reading schematics and working with both HV and LV wiring
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Expertise in PCBA rework, soldering, and hands-on lab work
• Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor technical personnel
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with safety standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment
Preferred:
• Over 5 years of experience as a technician, ideally in a lead or senior role
• Background in automotive test and validation, especially with power electronics
• Experience using lab equipment such as e-loads, battery simulators, and grid simulators
• Proficiency with LabVIEW and NI hardware is a plus
• Familiarity with lab resource management tools e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, Confluence, 3DS
