Lead Tax Specialist -Insurance Specialty
Job Description SummaryWe are looking for a Lead Tax Specialist to join our US Tax team for the insurance business unit of GE Aerospace called ERAC ERAC, Employers Reassurance Corporation and a corporate holding of GE Aerospace. We are a reinsurance company supporting the long-term care insurance, structure settlements and Life along with other insurance products.. You will assist with the state tax compliance, gathering/tracking/organizing certain aspects of the income tax provisions and other tax matters. You will collaborate across the company with other departments such as accounting, investments, operations and actuarial. Our ideal applicant is someone with a desire to contribute and learn. The position will report directly to the Senior Tax Manager and have an opportunity to engage in a growing, collaborative, and encouraging work environment; as well as demonstrate personal strengths as a tax professional.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Maintain state filing calendar and ensure timely filing of all state filings for the insurance companiesPreparation and/or review state insurance premium tax filings and other state filingsTrack, and respond, to state notices from regulatory authoritiesCoordinate with Treasury, Accounting and Operations on state paymentsAssist with the tax reporting of the alternative investments portfolio, specifically managing the organization of K-1/K-3s the company receives from externally held limited partnershipsAssist with preparation of income tax provisions for monthly/quarterly/annual deadlinesRecord tax entries into ledger and prepare tax account reconciliations as neededGather information and prepare workpapers for US federal and state income tax compliance prepared by external advisorsAbility to meet monthly, quarterly and annual goals, targets, and deadlinesDemonstrate attention to detail and a capacity to manage shifting prioritiesDeliver effective communication internally and externallyDevelop and implement process improvements in the Company’s tax procedures utilizing tax technology tools to simplify and automate complex processesWork closely with staff and managers of both the Tax and other key departments within the CompanyMust be comfortable dealing with issues and topics outside of their traditional tax training and running projects fully from start to finish

Required Qualifications

Insurance tax experience with state insurance premium tax filingsMasters of Accounting, tax focused1-3 years of relevant work experience in tax compliance and/or tax reporting with state insurance premium tax filings.Proficient in Excel, interest in process improvements, and tax compliance software programsKnowledge of finance and accounting including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Understanding of federal, state and local reporting requirements

The base pay range for this position pay range is $95,900.00 - 127,800. USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.   This posting is expected to close on August 10, 2025.
