As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the strategy, design and leading the implementation of our Coffeehouse operating systems and peripherals that are the heartbeat of our North American store footprint. This is inclusive of leading the team that is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, operational support, and reliability of Internet-based and in store systems. Devices include point of sale, scanners, label printers, receipt printers, kitchen display systems and back-office servers. On an ongoing basis, this position will help identify root cause of operational issues and partner with other team members to drive resolution.
An effective Lead Systems Engineer will be detail oriented, have broad technical understanding within the domain, can work independently, and is a team performer. Success will require collaboration, ingenuity, mentorship, and passion to deliver results.
As a member of our team, you will play an important role in defining how we do integration engineering. It will require you to learn, refine, engage, and document systems and processes. Your knowledge of hardware peripheral configuration, and integrations, various Operating Systems, Scripting languages, MDT task sequences, deployments, security risks assessments, and vulnerability resolution strategies.

Provide 24*7 global support of services in rotating on-call rotation. Create and maintain system and training documentation. Represent team and act point of escalation for initiatives and issue resolution. Drive root cause analysis, planning, and remediations. Coordinate with team to deploy fixes, configuration changes, system patches, certificate renewals/rotations, and vulnerability resolutions. Complete image building, image refreshes, and image deployments.Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience. Expert technical acumen in domains(s) as Lead Systems Engineer. Skills and Experience in presenting to Senior Leaders. Ability to lead POC efforts in support of Starbucks Technology needs. Capable of defining a technology roadmap ad influencing product roadmaps for vendors. Growing Knowledge of systems engineering and administration. Ideal candidates would have education and/or equivalent experience in a prior Lead Systems Engineering position. Ability to use knowledge, sound judge, and resourcefulness to support the design and deployment of global technology solutions. Demonstrates seasoned leadership skills to help junior staff excel in role. Building on foundational skills to automate manual processes and growing technical acumen in role. Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Basic Qualifications

Experience with endpoint hardening, secure boot, and TPM. Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC 2) relevant to QSR environments. Knowledge of network segmentation and zero-trust architecture. Fleet Management at Scale Experience with device telemetry, remote monitoring, and alerting systems Familiarity with device lifecycle management and firmware updates at scale.Use of MDM (Mobile Device Management) or UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) tools.
Bare-Metal Provisioning & Infrastructure Automation Hands-on with PXE boot, iPXE, Redfish, or IPMI for provisioning. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform Kubernetes & Containerization and Experience with Kubernetes Operators, Helm charts, and custom resource definitions (CRDs). *If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
