Who will you be working with?

The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer is a key role in the Sourcing & Quality organizations. He/she will be working with other SQEs in the Diversified Products, Filtration & Engineered Systems group, as well as with SQEs from other commodities and countries. He/she will be working directly with suppliers in the development and improvement of their manufacturing processes and products. The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer will also have frequent interaction with Sourcing and Fulfilment teams, advising them about suppliers’ quality performance and helping on the decisions and approach with suppliers. The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer will also interact often with Design Engineers, to understand the drawings and specifications, discuss about deviations, qualifications and quality issues. Also, there will be interaction with manufacturing teams, especially to solve quality issues, implement improvements in supplied parts and qualifications of new parts/suppliers.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Supplier Quality group, you will be responsible for achieving Supplier Quality goals for assigned supplier base (in Mexico and US) & commodity and contributing to growth plans with existing & new suppliers.

The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer has to develop & maintain objectives to achieve the following responsibilities:

1. Accurate & rigorous evaluation of current and potential suppliers using multiple tools.

2. On-time execution of PPAPs. Identify & qualify new products & suppliers in the region to drive growth.

3. Maintain & upgrade product & process quality at suppliers.

4. Drive & ensure compliance to supplier processes (Audits, PPAP, CARs, SDRs, etc.

What do we want to know about you?

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.Willingness and ability to travel to customers, suppliers, and company sites, as needed. Expectations are to travel up to 25% of the time.Ability to communicate (oral and writing) in English.

What will your typical day look like?

Drive quality and compliance in general for assigned suppliers. Qualify suppliers through Wabtec PPAP processes.Own supplier results and drive performance improvements, utilizing supplier scorecards.Perform onsite supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement/corrective action plans, where needed.Work on quality issues, both in the field and in the manufacturing shops, lead root cause identification with suppliers and implement corrective actions.Communicate effectively with suppliers and across the organization (Sourcing, Fulfilment, Manufacturing, Engineering) to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may affect quality and delivery requirements.Present to senior leadership on topics about supplier performance, quality issues and improvement projects.
