Lead Substation Engineer

Description

Currently seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to support their growing power delivery team in Tampa, Florida. This individual will be supporting projects with several utilities throughout the US. They will utilize various industry standard, in-house, and client-based software applications, while performing the design and the development of engineering construction packages.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct substation system analysis and perform design calculations to ensure the safety and performance of electrical substations

- Perform assessments of substation installations and existing infrastructure

- Perform analysis, design and development of standard details, drawings, specifications and transmission/substation facilities, structures, and foundations

- Support the development and review of substation design drawings, specifications, and construction document

- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for electrical substations

- Collaborate with other engineers, clients, and contractors to ensure project goals are met

- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members as needed

- Assist in the preparation of progress reports, compliance documentation, and record-keeping of transmission and substation technical documents and drawings

- Prepare contract documents and specifications, conduct evaluation of bid proposals, and prepare purchase requisitions

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (ABET-Accredited)

- 5+ Years of experience in Substation Physical Design & Engineering in the electric utility industry

- Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) preferred and Professional Engineering (PE) license OR the ability to obtain one is a plus

- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

- Strong understanding of substation design, construction, and commissioning processes

- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements

- Ability to apply engineering principles to solve complex technical problems

- Proficient in the following industry software: AutoCAD, grading software, Inventor and Microsoft Office Suite

- Willing to travel for on-site in Tampa, FL work responsibilities involving occasional overnight travel to locations for meetings with clients, vendors, and equipment suppliers

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $56.00/hr.
