**About Us**
SAP Export Control is a central function responsible for ensuring SAP’s compliance with applicable export control and sanctions laws and regulations. It defines SAP’s export control and sanctions compliance policy, advises the company on legal requirements and best practices, and monitors SAP’s deliveries on premise and in the cloud.
SAP Export Control includes teams with an operational focus responsible for ensuring compliance through appropriate export control compliance processes and measures and a legal team that supports operations and other functions at SAP with legal advice and the implementation of new or changing regulatory requirements.
Our team is centrally based at SAP’s headquarters in Germany, with employees in Brazil, Germany, Greater China/Taiwan, India, Ireland, Netherlands, Philippines, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. It closely interacts with global and local functions such as Data Protection, Global Legal and the Office of Ethics and Compliance.
The Export Control Legal Team is looking for a Lead Senior Legal/Chief Legal Counsel to support the global team with U.S. subject matter expert advice and guidance.
**What You’ll Do**
As Lead Senior Legal/Chief Legal Counsel for the Export Control Legal Team you’ll need to closely collaborate with other global experts in maintaining SAP’s compliance with applicable export control and sanctions laws and regulations. The role requires leading projects and initiatives, building out global networks of experts, drafting policies and procedures, and collaborating with business units, all in an agile manner and within the complex and constantly changing export control and sanctions compliance environments.
The Export Control Lead Senior Legal/Chief Legal Counsel's main tasks include:
+ Provide expert legal advice for activities relating to the export control and sanctions compliance of goods and services from a U.S. point of view.
+ Interpret and explain U.S. export/sanctions related compliance requirements and regulations and assist in resolving issues.
+ Work closely with other members of the SAP Export Control Team, legal teams, commercial teams and other functions at SAP, as required to ensure compliance with export control and sanctions regulations applicable to SAP.
+ Collaborate in a network of export control experts in the various jurisdictions.
+ Promote knowledge creation and sharing.
+ Increase awareness of export control & trade sanctions compliance on management level.
+ Analyze changes in U.S. export control and sanctions laws, determine impact on SAP and support implementation projects.
+ Strengthen the global export control & trade compliance community within SAP.
+ Handle U.S. supervisory authority requests.
+ Provide education and training sessions.
**What You Bring**
**Education and Qualifications**
Graduation from accredited US law school; further technical degrees or certifications are a plus.
**Required Skills**
+ Outstanding expertise in U.S. export control and trade sanctions compliance regulations and strong desire to deepen understanding of global export control and sanctions compliance laws.
+ Strong project management skills.
+ Excellent/Fluent written and spoken English skills. Written and oral proficiency in other languages would enhance the candidacy.
+ Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey processes, policies, and advice in an understandable manner.
+ Strong C-level communication skill.
+ Assertive and convincing personality, high level of commitment and flexibility.
+ Good team-working skills.
+ Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with peers, internal clients, and external customers.
+ Ability to work and collaborate in an international environment.
**Work Experience**
Minimum 10 years of work experience in the area of export controls and trade sanctions, either in the compliance department or in the legal department of an international company, in a law firm or consulting company specialized in export control and trade compliance. Experience in cloud businesses is a plus.

**Compensation Range Transparency** : SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $188,400 - $596,600 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
