We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Lead Hardware R&D Technician to join our innovative team. This role is perfect for a natural problem-solver who enjoys hands-on work and thrives on seeing a project through from concept to completion. You will be a key player in our workshop, responsible for fabricating, machining, and assembling custom components and systems. Key Responsibilities
* Fabricate and Machine: Perform custom fabrication using a variety of materials. Operate manual machine tools, including mills, lathes, grinders, and saws, to create precision parts from engineering drawings and sketches.
* Assemble Components: Assemble complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Light Electrical Work: Handle basic wiring, soldering, and assembly of electrical panels and harnesses according to schematics.
* Troubleshoot and Problem-Solve: Independently diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and assembly issues as they arise during the build process. Propose and implement effective solutions to improve designs and processes.
* Read and Interpret Plans: Work from technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics to ensure all components are built to exact specifications.

· Continuously assess workflows, tools, and team dynamics to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to propose and implement solutions that enhance productivity and quality.
2. Initiative Leadership
· Lead and manage strategic initiatives that align with department goals.
· Drive process improvements, pilot new approaches, and ensure successful execution of projects.
3. Space Ownership & Organization
· Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the workspace.
· Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored, labeled, and accessible.
· Champion a culture of accountability and pride in the work environment.
4. Task Prioritization & Team Support
· Act as a liaison between management and the team to communicate priorities and expectations.
· Support daily operations by assigning tasks based on urgency, skillset, and workload.
· Monitor progress and provide guidance to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
5. Leadership & Mentorship
· Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and support to team members.
· Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
· Assist in onboarding and training new employees.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Proven experience in a fabrication, machining, or technical assembly role.
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and standard machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, welder, etc.).
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
* Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. You should be able to troubleshoot issues with minimal supervision.
* A strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently and manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines.
* Basic understanding of electrical principles and wiring practices.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with TIG/MIG welding on various materials.
* Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
* Vocational school certificate or an associate's degree in a technical field.
* Experience working in a prototyping or R&D environment.
