Lead Quality Engineer

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Test Automation & Development Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python and Java. Build and enhance test frameworks for web, API, backend systems, and database testing using SQL. Write and optimize SQL queries for data validation and integrity checks within automated tests. Collaborate with development teams to ensure proper test coverage across all code changes. Implement best practices for data validation, integration, functional, regression, and performance testing. Ensure automation covers end-to-end scenarios, including data-driven testing for complex business logic. Utilize GIT for source control and manage codebases for testing scripts and automation. Work with Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) to integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines for seamless and continuous testing. Leadership & Management Lead and mentor a team of SDETs, providing guidance and support to junior team members. Establish and maintain processes and best practices for the quality engineering team. Drive continuous improvement in the team's validation approach and methodologies. Coordinate with other teams (development, product, operations) to ensure high-coverage and quality deliverables. Oversee resource allocation, ensuring the testing team is adequately supported and motivated. Encourage a culture of learning and innovation within the team. Quality Assurance & Process Improvement Champion quality across the development lifecycle, advocating for test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD) practices. Analyze testing results and metrics to continuously improve test effectiveness. Identify and resolve issues early in the development process, ensuring the release of high-quality software. Implement and monitor KPIs for test coverage, defect rates, and automation success. Ensure proper test coverage for product features and customer use cases. Collaboration & Communication Communicate testing progress, results, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and operations, to ensure end-to-end quality. Influence product design and development by identifying potential testability issues early. Provide regular updates to leadership and recommend improvements to product quality and user experience. Qualifications Required years of experience: 8-10 years Technical Skills: Strong experience in software development and testing with proficiency in Python and Java. Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG. Experience with version control systems, including GIT and VSTS. Familiarity with Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) and experience with CI/CD pipeline integration. Ability to implement and utilize AI-driven tools for test automation and efficiency improvement. Strong experience with SQL queries for data validation, database integration testing, and troubleshooting. Deep understanding of product functionality and user scenarios to create meaningful and effective test cases. Management Skills Proven leadership and management experience in leading quality engineering teams or managing projects. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to mentor and guide a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Preferred Experience with AI-based testing tools (e.g., Test.ai, Functionize). Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and testing in cloud-based environments. Experience with performance testing and load testing using tools like JMeter . Background in product lifecycle and customer journey mapping to inform test strategies.
