Lead Production Technician

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Lead Production Technician who will be based at our Texas City, TX, #2 ASU facility. The Lead Production Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day overall operation of both Air Separation, and LN2 liquification plants operated at the Texas City TX facility, reporting directly to the plant production superintendent. This position will lead by example, guide, train, and support facility technicians. The Lead Production Technician will also support plant management to implement safety programs, meet fixed and variable cost commitments, participate in reliability programs, and comply with quality and environmental systems including state and federal governmental regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Understand and strictly adhere to company safety work policies and operating practices.

Report safety incidents, near misses, and support a positive safety culture.

Manage the training and development of new production technicians.

Support production KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and work towards achieving these goals.

Understand the theoretical aspects of the process and adjust controls towards achieving desired flows, pressures, and purities.

Has some experience in a remote plant operation using HMI.

Ensure customer quality requirements are met for ALL products: maintain Quality Program and support internal and external quality audits.

Understand and monitor efficiency of equipment: cooler approaches, compressor and distillation performance, unit efficiency, etc.

Understand PID and control loop input-output logic.

Understand and follow all SMP, SOP, COP, OSS, OPS alerts and Technical Bulletins.

Support on shift technicians to resolve fill zone and back-up system issues.

Support maintenance staff to maintain building and grounds equipment in compliance.

Ensure the plant manager and plant superintendent are informed of any deviations in operation.

Drive improvements in productivity and cost savings.

Monitor product purity, inventory, and pressure indications for abnormalities.

5 years’ experience in an industrial production environment.

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Associate in applied sciences Degree or equivalent apprenticeship preferred.

Previous experience in a continuous chemical operation environment preferred.

Motivated, self-starter capable of effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Relevant computer and technical skills.

Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.

Must have good, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Must have a current and valid driver’s license.

Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job:

Lift 50 pounds.

Climb stairs and ladders.

Work in tight and closed spaces.

Be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.

Qualify and wear a full-face respirator.
