Basic Function:
Accountable to operate and control process units and all components in a safe, efficient and environmentally acceptable manner. The Lead Technician is part of a team responsible for safely operating production units in full compliance with safety, reliability, quality assurance, environmental and government programs, and daily customer requirements.
The position makes and implements operational decisions meeting customer requirements based on full awareness of viability, safety, cost and other benefits. The Lead Technician is results-oriented with good interpersonal, computer, and team-based skills, and can demonstrate understanding and use of PI diagrams, written procedures and policies, and problem solving in their daily work. These individual exhibits safety leadership in all aspects of their job.
In addition, the Lead Technician will also provide leadership and direction to shift operations.
Job Scope:
Plant Operations:
The Lead Technician continuously monitors and proactively checks the operation for efficiency and strives to anticipate problems before they occur.
The position is also responsible for assisting with the coordination of work requests, work permits and equipment isolation; following each work project through completion to ensure safe return to normal operation; and providing front-line communications to customers and facility management on product and process conditions.
Operates units to continuously supply products in quantities and qualities safely and economically, complying with all environmental regulations and daily customer requirements. In addition, the Lead Technician is responsible for ensuring adherence of team members to all environmental and safety regulations.
Accountable for adherence to all Corporate and Plant Policies.
Maximize reliability to avoid unscheduled shutdowns resulting in interruption of supply to customers.
Keeps and maintains all necessary production logs and records. Generates reports as required.
Uses professional judgment for operating the facility safely, reliably, and efficiently always.
Accountable for use of SOP’s to start and stop major equipment and processes to prevent unnecessary process delays and maintain operational consistency/reliability
Continuous review and comments on SOP’s to provide guidance in procedural updates
Allowed and expected to make process decisions within specified boundaries established by plant supervision.
Maintains the highest degree of personal safety and environmental accountability at all times.
Accountable for reviews and follow-up corrections of HWP and Confined Space permits.
Communicates all deviations/incidents and questions to plant supervision in a timely manner
Safety/Environmental:
Maintains the highest degree of personal safety and environmental accountability at all times.
Responsible for the compliance of MOC’s and Safety Meetings of team members
Wear appropriate PPE at all times
Accountable for issuing, monitoring and closeout of HWP and Confined Space permits
Adheres to LOTO policy
Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental policies and SOP’s
Communicates all deviations/incidents and questions to plant supervision in a timely manner
Provides training for operations employees
Adheres to PSM policy and provides guidance on PSM related tasks
Instructs on-site Contract personnel on safety rules and regulations and maintains frequent surveillance to assure their compliance at all times.
Responsible for attending and participating in all plant Safety meetings.
Conducts daily plant safety inspections to identify and correct plant and equipment hazards.
Must adhere to all security requirements and policies
Must be knowledgeable and practiced in all Emergency Procedures.
Duties:
Responsible for the training of team members as directed by supervision to include, but not limited to the following:
Initial Operator Training
PSM Refresher Training
Operator Qualification Training
Assist in the development of SSOP’s, training and implementation
Shift coverage on an as needed basis
Assist in developing, planning executing planned TAR’s
Responsible for the completion of daily work lists and work as assigned by supervision.
Responsible for Facility housekeeping (hoses rolled up, labeling of process, overall cleanliness, etc.)
Attends and contributes during the Morning Meetings
Universal Waste area compliance (all items and drums labeled correctly, nothing is past due for collection)
Hazardous Waste area compliance (all items and drums labeled correctly, nothing is past due for collection)
Assists in the completion of ACMS Work Orders to ensure compliance at all times
Assists in the completion of EAM Work Orders to ensure compliance at all times
Assists in the completion of RCA/RCI items to ensure compliance at all times
Assists in the completion of PHA items to ensure compliance at all times
Maintain LMS compliance
Assist in reviewing, follow-up corrections of HWP and Confined Space permits
Required to carry cell phone and on call as needed
