UPMC Children's North Satellite location is seeking a dedicated team member to help maintain a safe, professional environment for both clients and staff. Responsibilities include specimen collection and processing in accordance with established protocols. You'll also play a key role in onboarding new employees-serving as a coach, mentor, and resource. Collaboration with medical technologists is expected, with some tasks performed under their supervision.
Responsibilities:
+ Collect and label specimens accurately and promptly
+ Communicate professionally with patients, clients, and coworkers
+ Confirm orders and obtain billing details when needed
+ Perform clerical tasks (filing, faxing, data entry, etc.)
+ Delegate tasks and support phlebotomy workflow
+ Maintain a clean, organized work area
+ Answer phones and respond to inquiries courteously
+ Train and mentor new staff
+ Complete documentation and logs accurately
+ Package specimens per testing requirements; report and document issues
+ Support compliance with safety, dress code, and workplace standards
+ High School diploma or equivalent
+ Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience.
+ Previous Pediatric experience preferred
+ Previous EKG experience preferred
+ Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience is preferred.
+ Must have the ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Act 31 / 33 / 34 / 73 with renewal
