In this role, there will be the opportunity to- + Assist with the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. + Provide advice and guidance to department staff members and other hospital personnel in policy interpretations and related matters + Lead staff members in a fair, consistent, and effective manner by providing direction as needed, setting a professional example, and inspiring confidence through clear and professional communication. + Coordinate and control the operation of services effectively by consistently motivating staff in a positive manner, fostering teamwork in upholding departmental policies and procedures, and continually working to strengthen relationships with other hospital departments. + Maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and clean driving record, with the ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles. + Supervise and prepare day and evening shift schedules while monitoring Valet-Parking Attendants to ensure patient and visitor expectations are exceeded + Inspect work performance and assignments, recommend improvements in work methods to the Security Supervisor, and demonstrate full knowledge and ability to perform all duties and responsibilities outlined in the Valet-Parking Attendant job description. + Oversee daily operations, scheduling, maintenance, and cost-effective routing of the courtesy van; maintain clear communication with departments and patients using the service, make real-time decisions regarding scheduling and issues, and manage yearly reviews, scheduling, and supervision of van drivers. + Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards. + Prepare written documentation as required by professional and departmental policies and procedures, and explain and review relevant procedures, directives, and memos with Parking Attendants, staff, and visitors. + Maintain effective communication with the Security Supervisor and enforce hospital policies by exercising good judgment and remaining calm in stressful situations. Required: + HS Diploma or equivalent. + Valid PA Driver's License. + Wheelchair Safety and Operations, Decontamination Training & Hazardous Materials Awareness, Driver Safety Training, Fire Safety Training, Training on Transferring Patients In & Out of Vehicles, Hoverjack Training. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
