Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with 12-15 years of expertise in power plant engineering, with a strong focus on detailed design, engineering, and site installation. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in power plant mechanical systems, including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, and balance of plant (BoP) systems. Experience in Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) systems will be a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design & Engineering Review & approve piping systems, including material selection, stress analysis, and thermal expansion considerations. Review & approve technical specifications, P&IDs, and equipment layouts for power plant mechanical systems. Perform calculations for heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pumps, and turbines, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Review & approve Conduct CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for mechanical components. Review & approve  of design specifications of steam and gas turbines, boilers, condensers, and cooling towers, ensuring operational efficiency. Power Plant Installation & Site Support Provide on-site technical design expert support during the installation, commissioning, and operation of power plant mechanical systems. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting of mechanical failures in plant equipment. Collaborate with site teams to ensure proper alignment, balancing, and vibration analysis of rotating equipment. Support in the installation of WHR systems, including integration with existing power plant infrastructure. Compliance, Safety, and Quality Ensure that all engineering designs comply with ASME, API, ISO, IBR, ASTM, and other relevant international and national standards. Implement safety protocols and risk assessment measures for mechanical systems. Review QA/QC documentation, including NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) reports and welding procedures. Vendor & Cross-functional Collaboration Evaluate vendor proposals and coordinate with suppliers for procurement and fabrication of mechanical components. Work closely with civil, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into plant operations. Participate in design reviews, HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis). Performance Optimization & Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) Conduct efficiency analysis and recommend design improvements for plant mechanical systems. Work on Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) feasibility studies, system design, and integration with power plants. Implement heat balance calculations and optimize thermal cycles for better energy utilization.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 12-15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in power plant design, installation, and commissioning. Strong expertise in detailed engineering, mechanical design, and stress analysis. Hands-on experience with piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, turbines, boilers, and cooling systems. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Ansys, Caesar II (for piping stress analysis), PV Elite (for pressure vessel design). Familiarity with international standards (ASME Sec VIII, API 610/650, ISO 9001, IBR, ANSI, TEMA, ASTM). Experience in rotating machinery selection, vibration analysis, and alignment techniques. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Ability to conduct fluid dynamics and thermal analysis for power plant systems. Experience with Failure Analysis, HAZOP, and FMEA for risk assessment and mitigation. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Siemens power plant systems and processes. Knowledge of steam cycle analysis, Rankine cycle, and Brayton cycle. Exposure to gas-based, coal-based, or WHR power plants. Ability to manage multiple projects and support site activities efficiently.
