Key Responsibilities: Lead mechanical engineering activities for underground mining operations. Ensure compliance with mining regulations and safety standards. Oversee maintenance, reliability, and performance of mechanical systems and equipment. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, civil, and mining engineers. Manage contractors and service providers on site. Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and engineering drawings. Support capital projects and equipment upgrades. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical systems and processes.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements: BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering. 10–15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, predominantly in mining. Extensive experience in underground mining operations. Strong knowledge of mining equipment, ventilation systems, and shaft infrastructure. ECSA registration (preferred). Proven leadership and project management skills. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Exposure to ISO standards and risk management frameworks. Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
