This is a remote position with the expectation of frequent travel to a client site near Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
This is a mid-level design engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Mechanical Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity for career advancement:
Lead Mechanical design engineering efforts on a multi-disciplined project design team and apply mechanical engineering expertise to the design and analysis of special purpose equipment, pressure vessels, and interfacing systems, controls, and structural support elementsPrepare or review complex calculationsReview simple mechanical systems/equipment designs, and prepare complex system/equipment designsPrepare documented design input for drawing production (i.e., P&IDs, machine layouts, general arrangements, etc.)Prepare or review equipment specifications; prepare material specificationsPrepare bid evaluations for systems and components. Solicits data from vendorsPrepare or review simple reports/studiesDevelop single-discipline/simple-scope project budgets, schedules, and project work plans; monitor own work to ensure it is completed within budget and on scheduleUse effective written and oral communication skills to convey information to project team members and managersPresent written technical information in a clear and concise manner in all deliverablesPrepare reports and deliverables that are clearly understood and meet client requirements; communicate clearly in meetings with client and summarizes meeting notes in a clear and timely mannerCommunicate with vendors via clearly written and complete specifications, and via bid evaluation activitiesIdentify applicable standards for technical tasksMaintains and utilize a working knowledge of accepted engineering design standards and practices in the execution of design work that will meet the client's needs and conform to company standards; ensure conformance to standard methods of analysis, evaluation of results, design procedures, and presentations of conclusions and recommendationsMonitor the work of assigned staff on technical matters pertinent to project assignments; maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projectsAttend project meetings and perform field walk downsMentor junior engineers QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
Essential skills and experience:
Must be able to obtain US Government security clearanceBSME degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; MSME preferred12+ years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical engineering in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred, commercial or Navy)Experience with specialty equipment (e.g., glove boxes, pressure vessels, fume hoods, etc.) design and analysis a must; similar project experience will be consideredExperience with producing engineering designs and analysis for piping, HVAC, or radioactive material handling systems; experience with more than one type of system is a plusExperience with ASME B31 and/or AG-1 and N509/510 codesProficiency in computational engineering analysis software such as ANSYS, AFT Fathom, Arrow, Impulse, etc., or similarValued but not required skills and experience:
