Job Description - Lead Material Handler

Working closely with the Supervisors and Team Leaders you will be focused on ensuring that products are received, put away, picked, packed, and shipped accurately and efficiently, following the SQD model (Safety, Quality and Delivery). Your focus will be on effectively leading processes to meet our day-to-day goals and commitments to our customers.

Summary of duties

Work with your designated team, receiving, put away, picking, sortation, packing, despatch, inventory control.

To lead processes within the designated area to achieve departmental and business targets.

 Apply lean principles and tools, seek opportunities to improve efficiency and performance, promoting and supporting the PPI system - projects, KAISEN, just do It’s (JDI) and 5S.

Maintain and support the development of working procedures, risk assessments, safe working practices and good housekeeping, carrying out safety Gemba’s and SOOS reporting.

Investigate quality complaints and carryout root cause analysis and corrective action.

Become a champion/point of contact (process, and IBS) for Warehouse Operators within your designated area, and support training development and delivery.

Communicate and engage with the team and warehouse leadership though daily tier meetings, raising awareness to challenges that may impact the success of the day.

Communicate with internal suppliers and customers.

Be flexible and able to adapt to varying priorities throughout the day supporting the mobility of resource including self when required.

Minimum Requirements

Good teamwork and communication skills - the ability to lead, engage and support others.Hands on approach and flexible attitude to daily work/responsibilities, ability to lead by example and mentor/guide others.Problem solver – understanding the importance of containment, corrective and preventive. actions, employing a data led, factual approach to root cause problem solving.Good technical knowledge warehouse systems (IBS) and warehousing.Strong organisational skills for coordinating and delivering training at multiple levels.Current Forklift truck licenses desirable (Couter balance, VNA) but full training provided for the right candidate.Process led – ensuring standards are in place and always followed as a fundamental for a structured environment.
