Role Overview

The Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues challenging assembly, test, and inspection operations and processes on the manufacturing shop floor. This role requires a strong background in test engineering, project management, and a deep understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide technical support and guidance to production teams when issues exceed capabilities of testers.Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes to ensure cost-effective and safe assembly, test, and inspection of avionics products.Assess, address, and validate tool and equipment needs to facilitate safe, timely, and cost-effective production.Coordinate design, procurement, and implementation of tooling and support equipment, executing to established budgets and timelines.Communicate with direct team, supervisor, engineers, and other leaders.Present to internal teams on metrics, project status, and research.Establish and execute approved new technology, continuous improvement, and cost-out projects.Drive productivity and product quality improvements via process changes and Lean principles.Participate in bid and proposal activity, including development of non-recurring engineering and recurring product cost estimates.Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activity to ensure product producibility and testability upon entry into service.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Manufacturing)Minimum of 3 years of experience in Testing

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in TestingExperience with electromechanical assemblies, ideally gyroscope manufacturingExperience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Continuous ImprovementStrong manufacturing process knowledge and mechanical / electronics design exposureStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsStrong problem-solving skills
