Job Description

The Lead Maintenance Technician is entrusted with critical responsibilities that are fundamental to the efficient operation of our bakery equipment and facilities. The role demands a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills. Key responsibilities include:

(40%) Equipment Maintenance and Repair

Conduct thorough inspections, precise testing, and advanced troubleshooting of machinery and equipmentImplement corrective measures for equipment malfunctions through systematic diagnosis and repair proceduresExecute installation and repair of complex electrical systems, including transformers, relays, circuit breakers, and safety switchesDesign, assemble, and maintain sophisticated pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipmentProgram, install, and resolve issues with automated machinery and Programmable Logic ControllersPerform intricate repairs on refrigeration and HVAC systemsEnsure optimal functionality of material handling equipmentMonitor and maintain the main electrical panel with utmost precisionConduct repairs and maintenance of critical systems including boilers, water heaters, and water distribution networks

(20%) Preventive Maintenance Program Implementation

Coordinate strategically with other departments to optimize maintenance schedulingMeticulously perform all necessary maintenance procedures and maintain comprehensive logsContribute to the development and refinement of Preventive Maintenance Plans to enhance overall maintenance practices

(20%) Safety and Regulatory Compliance

Rigorously identify and document safety concerns related to machineryDevelop and implement robust action plans to address identified issuesConduct thorough follow-ups to ensure complete resolution of safety concerns

(10%) Facility Maintenance and Structural Integrity

Execute necessary repairs to maintain the structural integrity of the establishmentPerform essential general maintenance of office spaces and building infrastructureEnsure strict compliance with EPA, OSHA, and other governmental guidelines for all machinery operations

(10%) Operational Support and Resource Management

Assist in the strategic planning and scheduling of maintenance projectsManage inventory levels and procure necessary parts with careful consideration of operational needsConduct energy usage analysis and provide data-driven recommendations for improved efficiency

This role requires unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of equipment performance, safety, and operational efficiency. The Lead Maintenance Technician must demonstrate exceptional technical skills, leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proactive and self-motivated, have the ability to evaluate and repair all types of mechanical and electrical equipment and is able to perform under extreme stress when there is equipment failure. Core Competencies should include:

• Mechanical Systems
• Basic Maintenance skills
• HS Diploma, and/or Technical School Training two years, and/or 3 to 4 years related experience, and/or licensed journeyman of a skilled trade.
• Basic level computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams
• Effectively present information to peers, upper management and team members in oral and written form
• Define problems and draw conclusions
• Interpret technical instructions and diagrams
• Certificates, Licenses, Regulations
• EPA REFRIGERATION CERTIFICATION (Type II or Universal) Federal requirement – Team Leader or Maintenance Tech Servicing or Handling Refrigeration equipment
• Hazardous Materials Certification (Minnesota only)
