We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Performance Engineer to monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of our Mainframe systems and applications. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying bottlenecks, fine-tuning system resources, and ensuring high-performance delivery in line with business requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:Analyze and tune Mainframe system performance, focusing on CPU utilization, memory management, I/O throughput, and response times.
Monitor system performance metrics and interpret data to detect bottlenecks and performance trends.
Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and architects to optimize Mainframe applications and subsystems.
Design and execute performance testing strategies including workload modeling, benchmarking, and capacity planning.
Implement performance monitoring tools and automated systems to proactively manage system health.
Recommend improvements to system architecture and configurations based on performance insights.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across Mainframe software, hardware, and networking components in coordination with vendors and support teams.
Document performance tuning practices, procedures, and lessons learned for knowledge sharing and reference.
Stay current with emerging Mainframe technologies, tools, and methodologies; contribute to team knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Proven experience as a Mainframe Performance Engineer or in a similar capacity.
In-depth knowledge of Mainframe architecture and performance optimization techniques.
Proficiency in Mainframe performance tools such as IBM RMF, WPS, MXG, CA Sysview, etc.
Strong understanding of subsystems like CICS, DB2, and MQ Series and their tuning methodologies.
Hands-on experience with performance testing, including workload modeling, capacity planning, and stress testing.
Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on resolving complex performance issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
A proactive approach to learning and adopting new technologies and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:IBM Certified Performance Analyst or equivalent Mainframe tuning certification.
Experience with Mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., REXX, Perl) for automating performance tasks.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices in the context of Mainframe performance monitoring.
