Your Impact The Long Term Planning (LTP) Lead is responsible for formulating and executing cross-functional mine plans that optimize mine planning activities to meet 5-years and Life of Mine (LOM) business objectives and Reserves & Resource deliverables.The LTP Lead will collaborate closely with Site Technical Services (TS), Senior Leadership Team (SLT) functions, and the LTP Support Team to advise and inform enterprise, exploration, and capital investment decisions for complex sites or multiple sites.The LTP Lead will assess and analyze data, coordinate efforts across functions, and recommend strategies to improve and streamline planning processes, ensuring adherence to business goals and regulatory requirements.As Part Of Our Team You Will: Formulate Open Pit Optimized Mine designs and detailed phase designs, outlining the sequence of mining operations over the life of the mine.Formulate and maintain an integrated long term plan for the mine, detailed 5-years production plans, development milestones, and closure activities.Lead the site specific Open Pit team to deliver accurate achievable budgets.Conduct options analysis for different mining scenarios to support strategic decision-making.Lead the estimation of mineral reserves and resources according to international reporting standards.Formulate and execute a cutoff grade strategy that optimizes the economic return from mining operations.Coordinate the conceptual design process for mining projects, focusing on innovative and cost-effective solutions.Update extension plans based on exploration results and changing market conditions.Integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into planning.Present mine / phase designs, options / tradeoffs, and LOM schedules to stakeholders (Site) for approval and feedback, and facilitate regular reviews of the long-term plan to incorporate new data and strategic shifts.Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

Degree in Mine Engineering.

 

Additional Knowledge:

Recognized Competent / Qualified Person for MRMR or the ability to become a Qualified Person within 6 months.Working knowledge of open pit mine planning including design, scheduling, business planning, resource to reserve conversion and business improvement.
 

 

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in large-scale surface mining operations, with strong expertise in open pit mine planning and design.Extensive experience in Short-, medium- and long-term mine planning, mine scheduling, cost modeling, and scenario analysis. Mine operations experience would be an added advantage.


Technical Skills:

Open pit Mine design and scheduling, with proficiency in the field of open pit Mine Planning concepts and procedures.Advanced proficiency in open pit Mine Planning Software applications including Minesight, Whittle, Minemax or Deswik.Advanced proficiency in designing and implementing solutions to optimize value and reduce variability in mine planning.Competent proficiency in Functional Cost modeling and application of tools like Xeras.Competent in People Management, with the ability to generate stakeholder buy-in and lead through influence at a Site Leadership level, to deliver integrated plans.Competent proficiency in managing time constraints, competing priorities and work prioritization, in a multi-disciplinary environment, to meet business needs. Advanced proficiency in relevant mining software, and in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.Mine plan compliance monitoring and safety in design concepts.Ability to lead through influence and collaboration.
