The Lead Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity, transparency, and effectiveness of the organization's internal controls, financial systems, and operational processes. Through comprehensive audits and evaluations, the Lead Internal Auditor contributes to the continuous improvement of risk management practices, compliance with policies and regulations, and the overall efficiency of the organization. By identifying potential risks and recommending actionable solutions, they enhance the organization's ability to achieve its strategic objectives while ensuring accountability and safeguarding its assets. This position acts as a project lead to plan and conduct audit activities and a project manager on special projects within Direct Care and Treatment. The audit activities are designed to evaluate internal controls, assess risk, identify control gaps, recommend corrective action, safeguarding of assets, compliance with department policy, compliance with state/federal regulations, and to provide consulting on continuous improvement projects pertaining to entry level control structure. Audit activities include projects involving DCT administrations, contractors, and program divisions **Minimum Qualifications** To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate the following qualifications: One (1) year of leadership experience* *Leadership experience can include: + Experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead; + Completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g. ELI, L4); + A paid/unpaid position leading a program or chairing a committee (e.g. ERG) - experience must include: **AND one of the following options:** Three (3) years of experience in internal or external audits with responsibilities over planning and execution of audit engagements including but not limited to; conducting field work, preparing audit work making recommendations to control deficiencies and improvements to enhance internal controls within the last ten (10) years. **OR** Four (4) years of experience: + leading, conducting, and/or responding to financial audits, compliance, audits, investigations, and/or risk assessments. + in analyzing financial statements and/or utilizing reporting tools such as Crystal, Document Direct, SAS, SQL, Excel, Power BI, etc. to develop reports and interpret data + Experience reviewing and analyzing legal compliance requirements, developing procedures, and/or drafting audit reports. + Experience in fraud detection, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance + Experience using Microsoft Excel including use of pivot tables and advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP or similar functions. Note: A master’s degree in accounting, Human Services, Public Policy, finance, business administration or related field may substitute for 2 years of related experience **Preferred Qualifications** + Certification as a Certified Government Auditing Professional of Certified Internal Auditor + Experience with Statewide Accounting and Procurement System (SWIFT) and Statewide Employee Management system including payroll, human resources, and benefits (SEMA4) + Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and pronouncements of the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and/or cultures **Additional Requirements** To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
