Lead Infrastructure Database Administrator (Onsite)

Job Details:

The Lead Infrastructure Database Administrator is a senior-level professional responsible for leading and overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's database platforms.  They provide expert guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to the team, ensuring the company's databases’ reliability, scalability, and security. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex database systems. Ensure database performance, availability, and security at an advanced level. Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and integrations. Set strategic direction for database management and architecture. Providing technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a collaborative environment. Lead collaborating sessions with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient infrastructure solutions. Lead sessions with cross-functional teams to review performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization of database systems to ensure high availability and performance. Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect database systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities. Manage and optimize cloud-based database services like AWS, GCP, or Azure to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability. Automating infrastructure deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet. Lead collaborating sessions with DevOps teams to integrate infrastructure-as-code practices and ensure seamless deployment and continuous integration as relates to database platforms. Perform other assigned job-related duties that align with our organization's vision, mission, and values and fall within your scope of practice. 

 

Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience. Computer Science or Computer Engineering Preferred. 

Experience: 5+ years of relevant and practical experience in database administration. 

Special Skills: 

Extensive experience in one or multiple of the following DBMS platforms: Oracle, DB2, Progress, PostgreSQL. Advanced proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization. Advanced certification in database administration Experience with cloud-based databases and services. Proficiency in Unix and Linux operating systems. Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or Unix-based vi. Experience with big data technologies and NoSQL databases. 

Soft Skills: 

Mentoring: Mentoring and coaching of junior and mid-level engineers. Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities for database planning. Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities for complex database challenges. Strategic Alignment: Aligning technical solutions with long-term business goals. Cross-functional Collaboration: Working effectively with various departments and stakeholders. Conflict Resolution: Addressing and resolving team conflicts and technical disagreements. Skill Development: Developing the skills and capabilities of team members.
