Principal support engineer onshore We are seeking an experienced (8+) Principal Support Engineer to take full ownership of critical client-facing platform support and ensure system reliability and availability. This role involves managing high-severity incident tickets, coordinating cross-functional teams for releases, and maintaining a flagship Java-based platform with a large user base. The ideal candidate will excel at collaboration, troubleshooting, and driving resolution in complex, multi-team environments. Responsibilities • Ownership of eServices support incident tickets, software patches release, and system availability • Support a flagship client-facing platform with 20,000 users written in Java 8, running on Tomcat • Triage incoming support incidents to prioritise appropriately • Communicate progress and resolution updates to all support stakeholders • Enable and document root cause analyses for incidents • Coordinate release activities between infrastructure, information security, and development teams to deliver critical platform updates • Participate in weekend or. out-of-hours production deployment activities, with majority of working hours during normal office hours • Manage UAT sign-offs and readiness assessments for production go-live Skills & experience • Must have experience of supporting a production system with more than 100 users in their career • Must have demonstrable experience of bringing multiple teams together e.g. infrastructure/ architecture/ infosec and building strong collaborative relationships • Experience of managing and upgrading legacy systems running on Linux/Unix and Windows servers • Knowledge of linux operating system commands for troubleshooting • Effective management of support incidents in a ticketing -system such as ServiceNow or Jira • Must have experience of maintaining production apps using Java and Tomcat, including Jar package management • High-level knowledge of Java web applications, network security and routing for troubleshooting • Running CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments • Optional Devops experience of fixing and improving build/deployment pipelines • Optional working knowledge of Azure Log Analytics
