Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Developer with a strong background in Software Asset Management (SAM Pro) to design, develop, and maintain solutions within the ServiceNow platform. The role involves building and customizing SAM applications, integrating SAM with other enterprise systems, ensuring compliance with software license agreements, and supporting overall IT Asset Management processes.
The ideal candidate will be a ServiceNow professional who combines strong development skills with in-depth functional knowledge of SAM, enabling them to deliver scalable solutions aligned with business and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
ServiceNow Development (General):
Design, configure, and customize applications across the ServiceNow platform including ITSM, CMDB, Integrations, and SAM. Develop custom workflows, client scripts, business rules, UI policies, notifications, and integrations to meet business requirements. Work closely with architects, administrators, and business analysts to translate functional requirements into technical specifications. Perform platform administration tasks such as user/role management, ACL configuration, update set migration, and system maintenance. Ensure adherence to ServiceNow best practices, coding standards, and governance models.Software Asset Management (SAM) Specific:
Design, implement, and customize ServiceNow SAM Pro modules to support software asset lifecycle management. Configure SAM solutions to monitor, track, and optimize software usage and license compliance. Integrate SAM Pro with discovery sources, procurement systems, and vendor data feeds. Develop automation for software normalization, reconciliation, and reclamation processes. Implement license models, entitlements, and compliance reporting in alignment with vendor requirements (Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, etc.). Collaborate with stakeholders to define SAM requirements and deliver tailored solutions. Provide ongoing support for SAM operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with software agreements.Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience. 2+ years of dedicated experience in ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM Pro) development and implementation. Strong expertise in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide API, Client & Server Scripts). Proven experience configuring SAM Pro license models, entitlements, discovery sources, reclamation rules, and compliance reporting. Solid understanding of CMDB, Discovery, and IT Asset Management (ITAM) principles. Knowledge of software licensing models (perpetual, subscription, concurrent, etc.) and compliance requirements. Experience in REST/SOAP integrations and working with external vendor/license management systems. Familiarity with ITIL processes and governance frameworks. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Preferred Qualifications:
ServiceNow Certifications: CSA (Certified System Administrator) – Mandatory CAD (Certified Application Developer) – Preferred CIS – Software Asset Management (strong plus) Experience with Hardware Asset Management (HAM) or ITAM is an added advantage. Exposure to other ServiceNow modules like ITSM, ITOM, or GRC. Understanding of software compliance audits and vendor negotiation processes.Soft Skills:
