Lead interior design efforts on higher education projects from concept through construction. Collaborate with architects, consultants, and clients to develop integrated design solutions. Conduct programming, space planning, FF&E selection, and material specifications. Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of design excellence. Participate in client presentations, interviews, and project pitches. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the higher education sector and maintain strong client relationships and industry connections. Stay current with trends in campus design, sustainability, and learning environments.
ResponsibilitiesLead interior design projects from concept through construction.Collaborate with architects, consultants, and clients to develop integrated design solutions.Conduct programming, space planning, FF&E selection, and material specifications.Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of design excellence.Participate in client presentations, interviews, and project pitches.Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the higher education sector.Maintain strong client relationships and industry connections.Stay current with trends in campus design, sustainability, and learning environments.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.NCIDQ certification required; WELL accreditation a plus.8+ years of professional experience with a strong portfolio of higher education work.Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships.Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in healthcare environments is beneficial.Interest in business development is advantageous.Proficiency in AutoCAD and interior architecture.Experience in schematic design.Work Environment
The position is based in the Baltimore office, focusing on higher education, with openness to healthcare projects as well. The team currently consists of five members on the interiors side and is expanding due to personnel changes. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $50.48/hr.
