+ Position Summary
+ Oversees Central Access Center Financial Counselors and coordinates the daily workflow of the Outpatient Centralized Financial Counseling department. The Department is responsible for verifying eligibility and benefit information on all scheduled procedures, securing pre-certification via software or phone, medical necessity and communicating back to the patient their estimated financial responsibility. Serves as a working member of the group with supervisory responsibilities that include personnel assignments, training, and control of workflow. Integral member of the Revenue Cycle Team.
Responsible for ensuring that insurance requirements and financial obligations are obtained and/or communicated to patients for collection of elective hospital services prior to date of service and/or billing.
Primary Position Responsibilities
+ Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits.
+ Secures pre-certification.
+ Medical necessity verification.
+ Communicates financial responsibility to patients for scheduled procedures.
+ Promotes harmony and teamwork in all areas of Financial Counseling and Revenue cycle.
+ Ensures that staff uses appropriate patient satisfaction practices.
+ Part of the Denial Management Committee- responsible for maintaining established benchmarks related to pre-certification, medical necessity and other metrics the committee tracks and trends.
