Job Description
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of Electronic Security Systems. The technician works both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls, troubleshoot system issues, and provide customer support. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.
ResponsibilitiesInstall and program CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.Identify risks to customers and provide effective solutions.Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems.Monitor inventory of service parts.Installation of all Low Voltage Systems.Hardware Installation.Provide the main office with scheduling and materials on a weekly basis and upon request from direct Supervisor.Supervise and guide low voltage installation crews.Conduct quality control checks and inspections before project turnover.Train and mentor junior technicians and apprentices.Coordinate daily tasks and ensure alignment with project schedules.Enforce job site safety protocols (PPE, ladders, lifts, lockout/tagout).Essential SkillsLow voltage programming and installation.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Experience with Electronic Security Systems including CCTV, Access Control, Intercom, and Fire Systems.Troubleshooting and schematic skills.Experience with blueprints, hand tools, and electronics.Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience.Ability to handle physical workload and lift 50 pounds.Familiarity with hand and power tools.Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.Strong attention to detail.Ability to differentiate colors for proper wiring and terminations.Ability to work with various hand and power tools in a safe manner.Ability to drive and travel various distances and to multiple sites with your own vehicle.Ability to stand for most of your working day.Ability to climb ladders and perform work while working at heights.Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).Additional Skills & QualificationsOSHA 30 and SST certifications would be useful upfront but will need to have prior to 90-day review.Previous experience in security installation, maintenance, wire running, carpenter, IT, Access, CCTV, or other related fields.Must be a hard worker who is reliable and dependable.Must have a positive attitude and team player mentality.Well organized and detail-oriented.Desire and ability to learn about new products.Work Environment
Work is done 100% onsite at customer locations. Technicians will work both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls. This person will be traveling in their own vehicle to customer sites and to the office to retrieve equipment and materials for each job. They work at customer sites mainly throughout the Tri-State area; however, they may be required to travel to different worksite locations as needed. Candidate will be eligible for tolls and gas and all work-related expenses for work out of the state of New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr.
