Lead Field Service Technician

Pengate Handling Systems is looking for a Lead Service Technician to join our service team! 

Our Lead Technicians are a critical part of what makes our service department best-in-class. In this role, you’ll not only perform repairs and maintenance on equipment, but also lead, support, and mentor a team of technicians across an assigned geographic territory—ensuring our customers receive timely, high-quality service and our team performs at its best.

What You'll Do 

Lead, coach, and support a team of technicians performing service and repairs on forklifts and conveyor systems at customer locations.  Monitor team performance, ensure productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals are met.  Conduct and coordinate service work including troubleshooting, scheduled maintenance, inspections, and mechanical/electrical repairs.  Promote a safety-first culture by adhering to all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.  Analyze daily operational needs and assign resources accordingly to meet customer expectations.  Partner with Field Service Managers to implement best practices and continuous improvements.  Facilitate team meetings and training opportunities for both technical and leadership development.  Serve as the communication link between technicians, customers, and internal departments.  Troubleshoot electro-mechanical issues using hand tools, diagnostic devices, and manufacturer guidelines.  Perform complex repairs and system adjustments on forklifts and conveyor systems (belt tracking, gearboxes, etc.).  Maintain accurate service records and work with company software for reporting and scheduling.  Provide recommendations for parts replacements and handle ordering as needed.  Promote and implement Raymond’s best-in-class service model in daily operations. 

 

What You’ll Need 

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; conveyor experience highly preferred.  High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training is a plus.  Strong leadership and mentoring skills; ability to guide team members through challenges and new procedures.  Advanced troubleshooting skills with material handling equipment, conveyors, and components.  Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and mobile service apps.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  A strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.  Ability to lift/move up to 150 lbs with assistance.  Comfortable working at extended heights (ladders, scissor lifts).  Valid driver’s license and ability to pass company certification exams.  Willingness to work overtime and be on-call as needed to meet customer needs. 

 

Travel Requirements 

This position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories. 
Technicians will be provided with a company vehicle and a company Fuel Card to pay for vehicle expenses. 

 

Physical Requirements 

Ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds and up to 150 pounds with a team member or support  Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours  Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively  Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
