Position Summary:The Lead Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the lead extrusion machine to apply a lead sheath to core conductors. This role ensures product quality, machine efficiency, and workplace safety while maintaining production standards.Essential Job Functions:
Review documentation and work orders before starting operations.
Set up work, including but not limited to:
Moving reels in the work area and onto/off of payout and take-up machines.
Feeding cable through machinery.
Changing and adjusting tooling as needed.
Labeling finished products.
Monitor product quality throughout production.
Maintain and clean the extrusion machine to ensure optimal performance.
Store and organize supplies/materials effectively.
Operate forklifts and handle cylinder changes safely.
Document production processes and report any issues to supervisors.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist in training new employees.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in the wire & cable industry is a plus but not required.
Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
Basic mechanical skills and ability to operate industrial machinery.
Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one) is preferred.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
