The **Lead Engineer, Food Replenishment Transformation** will join a newly formed engineering team on a mission to modernize how food inventory is replenished across Target’s supply chain. Today, core food replenishment logic lives in complex mainframe systems that constrain agility, transparency, and cost efficiency. These jobs determine how much inventory should move, and from where. This team is responsible for discovering, rebuilding, and operationalizing that logic on a modern, distributed platform.
Replacing these legacy processes with real-time, service-based systems will reduce mainframe dependencies and associated costs, while improving system flexibility and speed of change. Food is a key driver of guest traffic, and our work directly supports that part of the business by improving how food items are moved between supply chain nodes. Engineers on the team build and manage services that integrate with multiple upstream systems to determine the ideal inventory of food items.
As a **Lead Engineer,** you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You lead by mentoring engineers, setting technical direction, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

+ Ensure security best practices and performance optimizations are integrated throughout the system lifecycle
+ Mentor and coach engineers across the team, cultivating future technical leaders
+ Promote a culture of learning, inclusion, and engineering excellence
+ Actively participate in code and design reviews, ensuring high standards across the codebase and architecture
+ Engage in enterprise-wide initiatives that improve engineering practices, platforms, or capabilities
**Core Technologies:**
+ Languages: Kotlin
+ Runtimes/Frameworks: Frameworkless
