If you are a embedded firmware engineer, looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in Xi'an, you will responsible for the lead embedded firmware projects for thermostats, HVAC controls, and cold chain control products. Collaborates closely with global R&D teams across the United States, India, Europe, and China to drive new product development, sustain existing platforms, and contribute to technology innovation. Ensures technical solutions meet quality, performance, and schedule expectations.
AS LEAD FIRMWARE ENGINEER ,YOU WILL:
+ Lead firmware development efforts as Project In-Charge.
+ Design and develop embedded firmware for microcontroller-based thermostat and HVAC electronics systems using C and follow team coding standards and development processes.
+ Actively contribute to product development projects from concept through production, including system analysis, technical risk evaluation, and implementation of design solutions.
+ Analyze complex technical challenges and data, providing in-depth evaluation of variable factors to support robust engineering decisions.
+ Create, review, and maintain firmware architecture, product requirements, and design specifications in collaboration with cross-functional and global teams.
+ Conduct and participate in code reviews and design reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and performance of firmware.
+ Support root cause analysis and issue resolution related to field returns, design defects, and product maintenance.
+ Document and share technical knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned to promote continuous learning and team growth.
+ Coordinate closely with global project teams across different time zones to align firmware deliverables with broader project milestones.
+ Apply structured development methodologies including version control, issue tracking, and configuration management tools.
+ Follow Agile development process, participating in sprint planning, task estimation, and get user story done in time.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement of firmware development processes and tools.
+ Stay current with industry trends in embedded firmware, including RTOS, wireless communication, etc.
+ recommend design modifications.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
+ Bachelor or above in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ 5+ years’ experience in embedded firmware development including C programming and troubleshooting.
+ Essential people & project management skills.
+ Ability to identify technical risks that impact project delivery, and skilled in developing and executing robust mitigation plans.
+ Ability to handle changing priorities and multiple tasks with limited resource.
+ Strong capabilities in feature analysis and effort estimation, consistently seeking to optimize development efforts for efficient delivery.
+ Solid experience with embedded RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) or Linux.
+ Solid understanding of microcontrollers, especially ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A and Risc-V.
+ Experience reading schematics and component datasheets, debugging hardware-firmware integration issues with oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.
+ Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira), and configuration management platforms.
+ Good English skills in oral, writing and reading is a plus.
+ Demonstrated passion for innovation and problem-solving with a proactive and flexible mindset.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
+ Experience with wireless communication technologies (e.g., BLE, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G) is a plus.
+ Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus
