Lead Engineer - Combustion Aero - Emissions (m/f/d)

**Job Description Summary**
As a member of the GE Aerospace team, you will be an expert in combustion aero design and will work within commercial aero engine combustor programs and externally funded research programs. The focus area of your engineering work will be the development of advanced, low emission combustion systems for the CFM RISE open fan architecture with emphasis on non-CO2 emissions (contrails and NOx).

**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Execute the combustion aero design/analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards and product/program requirements following best practices and standard lean 6-sigma approaches.
+ Lead the development, analysis, and testing of low-emission combustor designs focused on non-CO2 emissions.
+ Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.
+ Interact with co-workers within GE combustion community and external partners to establish best practices and technical achievements.
+ Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments at all senior leadership levels.
+ Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks.
+ Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
+ Lead national/European research projects supporting the development of advanced low emission combustion technologies for future applications.
**Required Qualifications**
+ MS in mechanical engineering with focus on aero design, emissions and measurement techniques.
+ Profound industrial experience in gas turbine applications, in particular on emissions, measuring/testing and design modifications to meet customer and regulators requirements.
+ Expert in experimental testing of aero engines including application of advanced emissions measurement techniques.
+ Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews.
+ Strong leadership skills capable of leading technical teams to execute assigned projects meeting deliverables on time and on budget.
+ Effective in contributing to a cross-functional teamwork environment.
**Desired Characteristics**
+ PhD in mechanical engineering with focus on experimental testing including application of advanced emissions measurement techniques.
+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with capabilities to work in international environments.
+ Working knowledge of current and oncoming aero-engine emission certification requirements (EASA/FAA), procedures and application to latest aero engine products.
+ Proven track record of conceiving, designing, carrying out and interpreting results of aero engine or gas turbine combustion aero designs, in particular for emissions.
+ Knowledge of Export Control regulations.
+ Six-Sigma Green Belt certified.
+ Aviation tagger certified.
