Lead Drive Unit Test Technician

We are looking for a Lead Drive Unit Test Technician to lead development activities for electric vehicle drive unit components.


Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and should be excellent at multi-tasking.

 

The Role:

Shifts available: 8:00p – 4:30p, Monday-Friday 12:30p – 9:00p, Monday-Friday Lead advanced projects to expand and sustain test cell capabilities. Develop and enhance test equipment for improved performance and reliability. Provide consultation/support with test engineers on feasibility of tests and test setups. Physically install and setup test articles on test beds. Execute intermediate to advanced standard and non-standard test profiles with critical attention and focus. Flash intermediate to advanced software versions to test articles. Provide organized and detailed feedback to test requestors during tests. Regularly update test tickets with precise findings and notes to support the creation of test reports. Regularly interact directly with engineers from various cross-functional teams. Leverage basic and advanced data acquisition systems and related instrumentation. Work successfully in an independent capacity with minimal guidance. Diagnose and debug intermediate to advanced issues at a system, modular, and component level with a precise and methodical approach- Escalate internally as needed. Drive root cause analysis and documentation of findings. Lead the design and fabrication of custom supporting equipment required for diverse test scenarios. Conduct routine maintenance checks on test cells. Lead enhancement and improvement of safety and organization of workspace and lab. Coach and guide Technicians in advanced troubleshooting, maintenance activities, fixture modifications, and test executions. Ensure maximum test cell uptime. Work collaboratively with supervisors. Improve test operation KPI's of test cells in alignment with leadership.  

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of automotive or related technician experience. A keen eye for catching problems, especially key when preparing and executing test profiles. Impeccable organization and clean work environment habits. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills   Strong experience with shop tools including but not limited to: torque wrenches, drivers, power tools, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc. Demonstrated understanding of electrical hazards, including precautionary measures around high voltage equipment and rotating machinery.  Detail oriented personality with exceptional documentation and reporting skills. Strong Microsoft office and computer software literacy. A true self-starter. Excels in a fast-paced and dynamic environment- Remain focused and poised in the face of un-planned changes. Intermediate to advanced experience working with standard industrial communication interfaces i.e. CANbus, Ethernet, Modbus Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

Experience in dyno-specific testing interfaces. Experience with electric vehicle drive systems. Experience with electric vehicles and/or automotive products. Experience with Atlassian Jira, National Instruments hardware & related software strongly desired
