WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Lead Doctor to support and elevate the medical team, ensuring your hospital remains clinically excellent by living and teaching the VEG Way and VEG Spikes. You’ll partner with the Medical Director to coach fellow doctors, support medical processes, and help bring our strategy to life.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Excellence

Provide expert medical guidance over the phone

See patients immediately as part of our unique triage model (VEG Triage + Spikes)

Collect patient history, vitals, and perform diagnostics including imaging, bloodwork, and more

Diagnose conditions and develop diagnostic and treatment plans

Communicate clearly and compassionately with customers about diagnoses and options

Present estimates and explain value of services

Create accurate and timely medical records

Prescribe medications and comply with legal drug protocols

Perform emergency surgeries (minor and major)

Educate customers on aftercare and preventive care

Medical Excellence Mentorship

Coach doctors on practicing medicine the VEG Way, focusing on both outcomes and experience

Support teammates through their personalized growth and development plans

Lead team huddles and energize the team with positivity and purpose

Champion a culture of inclusion and equity, creating a safe and respectful space for all VEGgies and customers

Medical Processes and Initiatives

Help implement local patient safety initiatives

Oversee Cubex maintenance and inventory checks

Create and manage doctor schedules, ensuring coverage and fairness

Support Medical Director with backup coverage during callouts or changes

Address customer concerns related to medical care

Medical Strategy

Serve as interim Medical Director during leaves or openings

Lead monthly doctor meetings and M&M (Morbidity & Mortality) rounds

Partner with MD on recruitment strategy, sourcing, interviewing, and succession planning

Deliver onboarding and training for new ER doctors, as needed

 

WHO YOU ARE:

Have earned a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree A minimum of 2-3 years of ER experience 1 year leadership experience preferred, but not required Flexible to work a combination of clinical and administrative shifts depending on hospital needs Top-tier customer satisfaction and hospital revenue production while at VEG Trained in emergency surgery/endoscopy, preferred but not required Extensive experience with managing critical cases Available to work at a rotation of various shifts  to include days, swings and overnight shifts, weekends and holidays.  Willingness to support doctors and perform administrative tasks during off hours (ie. doctor callouts, addressing customer complaints, schedules, preparing for meetings, etc.)  Is fulfilled by helping others and providing mentorship while leading a team of rockstar Emergency Veterinarians
