The Role:
As a trusted member of our high-energy, tight-knit, and creative team, you will be responsible for managing Open-Source Databases (PostgreSQL and MySQL) for high-volume, mission-critical systems across both physical and cloud-hosted data center infrastructures. You will develop and maintain technical standards, procedures, and documentation in partnership with service partners as needed. Your analytical skills will be crucial in directing proof of technology to establish standards for new designs or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes. You will leverage your interpersonal skills to partner and consult with various technical, business projects, and management staff.
What You’ll Do:
Independently plan and develop complex database solutions designs in support of applications, network, compute, telephony, platform, and middleware implementations.Design, architect, and build databases from determining business requirements to planning and deploying test and production systems.Administer Open-Source Databases (PostgreSQL and MySQL) throughout the development and production lifecycles in both cloud and on-premise environments.Design and develop logical and physical database designs based on customer requirements.Analyze and develop business descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify systems, including Business Requirements Documents and supporting documents, diagrams, and database specifications.Assist project/application managers with release, configuration, and change management activities.Provide advice and support to development resources.Liaise with business customers and business analysts to support the design of intuitive end-user reporting.Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures.Mentor group members and help develop and support mid and junior-level staff.Be scheduled for after-hours on-call support and apply production packages during non-peak hours.
What You’ll Bring:
A bachelor’s degree and 5 years of systems engineering experience, or 7 years of systems engineering experience in lieu of a degree.Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT working on large-scale projects.7+ years in a DBA role, including at least 5 years of experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL.Technical expertise in data models, database design, and development.Demonstrated experience with data modeling tools.Background with advanced working knowledge of multiple operating systems (Linux/Windows), hardware platforms (Dell Systems/x86), and virtualization technologies (VMware/Dell).Scripting automation experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to design solutions that optimize database workflows.
