Role Definition:

Join Caterpillar as a Lead Data Scientist in a team responsible for bringing world class GenAI capabilities to our products and services

Responsibilities:

Model Development: Designing, implementing, and optimizing models used in generative AI solutionsAlgorithm Research: Staying updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning algorithms and integrating them into the team's projects.Experimentation: Conducting experiments to test the performance of different models and approaches, and iterating based on the results.Research and Implementation: Agentic GenAI solution research and best approach to implement solutions Training and Mentorship: Providing guidance and mentorship to junior data scientists and other team members.

What you will have:

Business Statistics: Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Machine Learning: Knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.Programming Languages: Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages.Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Top Candidates will have:

Experience with Python libraries such as LangGraph, and LangChainExperience with AWS Sagemaker or similarAbility to evaluate generated content from Large-Language Models (LLM)Machine LearningComputer Vision

Additional Details:

This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL, Peoria, IL, or Irving, TX (Dallas) offices.

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $204,720.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
