Job Description SummaryLead Counsel Central Eastern Europe provides legal support GE Healthcare business teams in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia. This will include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with key customers, advising on a wide range of legal and compliance matters and acting as business partner to support the senior business leaders in the region. Lead Counsel will be based in a GEHC location in Central Eastern Europe and will report to the General Counsel for UKI, Nordics, Italy, Malta, Israel and Eastern Europe.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Providing legal support for Central Eastern Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia) business in the regionDrafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial business agreements and transactions with key customersProviding legal advice in public tenders, incl. challenges to tender awardsCounseling in indirect distribution matters working closely with the Indirect Channel/Dealer Compliance Organization as well as the sales teams in the regionAdvising the business on regulatory, privacy, antitrust and advertising/promotional mattersProviding regulatory and compliance advice related specifically to the healthcare sector - in conjunction with the Regulatory and Compliance specialists in GE Healthcare, e.g. regarding interactions with Healthcare Professionals; transparency requirements; compliance trainings where appropriate, serve as escalation point and help with investigations and with making decisions with broader risk implicationsDeveloping and delivering training to the business teamsManaging/ supporting the management of disputes and litigationManaging outside counsel, when brought in to assistSupporting the management of legal entities in the regionApplying combined business and legal judgment to proposed deals, relationships and other issues requiring legal or compliance attention.Staying up-to-date and educating the business on new legal and regulatory developmentsBe motivator and energizer for a strong culture of integrityCollaborating actively with other legal counsels and functions in a matrix organization.Required Qualifications
This role requires advanced business law experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department, including previous experience of drafting, negotiating and closing business transactions (i.e. purchase, sale and distribution agreements) in Eastern EuropePrevious experience in identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls.Previous experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast paced environment.Ability to fluently communicate using EnglishDesired Characteristics
