UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Lead Sterile Processing Technicians for evening (2 PM – 10:30 PM) and night (10 PM – 6:30 AM) shifts. This hands-on role requires standing for long periods, lifting heavy trays, scrubbing instrumentation, and meticulous attention to detail. Responsibilities:

Independently manages the department on off-shifts, weekends, or in the absence of leadership. Oversees staff scheduling, assignments, and training, ensuring compliance with policies on decontamination, sterile processing, infection control, and safety. Prepares, assembles, and maintains surgical trays, equipment, and instrumentation while troubleshooting sterilization processes. Acts as liaison between SPD and OR, coordinating department services and operational improvements. Supports professional development, mentoring, and education programs for staff and students.  Leads performance improvement initiatives, cost-effective practices, and documentation management. Communicates effectively, fostering teamwork, cultural diversity, and workplace well-being. Applies critical thinking in clinical, safety, and patient care decision-making, enhancing the work environment.  Participates in committees, projects, and knowledge-sharing through presentations and publications.
