The expected annual salary range for this role is $99749.97 - $146299.96 a year.

**What you’ll do:**
Eaton is seeking a lead battery system engineer for its Battery Center of Excellence (CoE).
Eaton’s Battery CoE accelerate the company’s growth through the development of battery platforms that are battery-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies and tools that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products with energy storage.
This individual will be responsible for leading all aspects of the design and development of battery platforms. This engineer will ensure that the battery platforms meet the module and rack requirements for various applications, such as UPS and energy storage. Additionally, this engineer will drive all battery platform development activities, requiring collaboration with engineers in various domains such as mechanical design, thermal design, electrical design, harness design, and BMS firmware/software development, including battery control and algorithms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Translate application requirements into battery platform requirements, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, environmental, reliability, and cost requirements
-Review battery supplier specifications (e.g., battery cells) and select those that meet the requirements.
-Technically lead the design and development of state-of-the-art battery platforms by working with mechanical, electrical, FW/SW, including battery control and algorithms
-Develop test plans and procedures, identify hardware needs, and design test set-ups for battery platform validation
-Perform battery cell and module testing for characterization
-Lead battery platform FMEA activities
-Perform battery technology scouting and industry trend study
-Support business divisions for successful adoption of battery platforms for the end products
-Support business divisions and supply chain management in supplier management and development
**Qualifications:**
**Basic (Required) Qualifications:**
-Bachelor's degree in engineering or science from an accredited institution
-Minimum 7 years of experience with Lithium or other advanced battery technologies (e.g., LiFePO4, Na-Ion)
-Minimum 3 years of experience developing battery modules and packs/racks by collaborating with mechanical, thermal, electrical, and FW/SW engineers
-Minimum 3 years of experience in developing specifications and requirements for battery modules and packs/racks
-Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience testing lithium battery cells, modules, and packs/racks
**Preferred Qualifications:**
-Master's or Ph.D. in engineering or science
-Battery product development experience, including UL certification
-In-depth understanding of battery management system (BMS) requirements and functionality
-Solid knowledge of safety, compliance, and regulatory standards (UL1642, UL1973, UL9540, etc.)
-Strong understanding of electronic circuits and components for BMS
-Experience in project planning and tracking
-Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members
-Design for Six Sigma certification
