Overview To provide consistent, proper bartending service in accordance with Stonewall Resort’s entire beverage service standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION Carries out the policies and procedures of Stonewall Resort and Benchmark Hospitality while maintaining the following our five core values, integrity, trust, honesty, collaboration, and fun. Assists in the scheduling of all bartenders. Ensures that guest satisfaction is excellent. Responsible for guest relations including guest’s name and product preferences. Monitors the provision of positive customer service by assigned staff (Be The Difference) Serves guests with minimal delay and timely service Ensures consistent quality of product and service Ensures table service is maintained at all times. Assists in conducting inventories and monitoring the inventory Maintains and controls secure storage for bar supplies Ensures accurate collection of payment for beverages and menu items, including food. Performs cash handling, accountability and input into the point of sale system Assures that opening/closing procedures/checklists are completed and that the restaurant/bar is prepared for opening/closing. Responsible for bar set-up at the beginning of each shift. Responsible for closing the bar and restocking used items. Responsible for reporting all maintenance needs to the manager. Maintains the presentation and cleanliness of the bar area. Seeks out latest trends and products in industry and shares with Food & Beverage Management. Develops cocktails and beverages based on seasonal and trend changes Accounts for all glassware and bar accessories and ensures that the bar area is in complete working order. Ensures sufficient supplies of beverages are stocked at all times. Stocks service areas with supplies such as drink mixes, any condiments used for drinks or food, any supplies that are needed behind the bar. Responsible for set-up and presentation of bar area to include cutting fruit, pulling down bottles, filling ice bins and putting away requisitions. Has complete knowledge of the master beverage list. Ensures proper presentation of each beverage served Maintains updated cocktail and liquor menus in conjunction with Food & Beverage Management. Ensures that liquor laws and liquor rules of the State of WV and Stonewall Resort are followed at all times. Monitors and adheres to the rules and regulations established by the TABC; includes monitoring of guest consumption and knowledge of procedures for handling intoxicated guests. Understands licensing regulations, including weights and measurements, and underage drinking. Maintains uniformed grooming standards as outlined in the employee handbook. Responsible for proper collection of all sales. Maintains the profitability of the bar operation according to set budgets. Maintains accuracy of bank by daily computations; understands completely all functions and responsibilities of daily bank counts and bank drops. Ensures that bartender tips are accounted for and divided accurately and fairly. Memorizes and practices AAA Four Diamond Standards with every shift. Knows property layout and directs guests by utilizing daily event sheets, function sheets, or other documents, or reference materials. Attends meetings as required Reviews and understands daily event sheets, and function sheets in order to properly and knowledgeably respond to any guest or co-worker requests, questions, or concerns. Carries our responsibilities as assigned by the Restaurant Manager. Assists in building an efficient team of employees and assists in training and development. Resolves routine problems encountered in performance of work assignments. Organizes staff training sessions with vendors in conjunction with Food & Beverage Manager. Checks with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their drinks and takes action to correct any problems. Explains how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods. Prepares checks that itemize and totals meal/drink costs and sales taxes. Follows safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of one year’s bartending experience in fine dining or casually elegant upscale environment. Must have the flexibility to work a varied schedule due to business levels and industry demand (hotel open 7 days a week, evenings and holidays). Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Technical Skills - Must have alcohol server's certification or become certified as required by company policy. Cash handling experience with ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Professional presentation. Refined communication skills. Interpersonal skills conductive to guest/customer service environment.
