Lead Analyst Programmer

The Lead Analyst Programmer is responsible for driving AI-based solution development to support United Rentals’ strategic initiatives. This role will focus on leveraging cutting-edge technologies including Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Large Language Models (LLMs), and prompt engineering to deliver intelligent, scalable solutions. The role involves working across AWS cloud infrastructure, building and managing data vectorization pipelines, and integrating both SQL and NoSQL databases to support AI workflows. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in AWS services, machine learning operations, and modern data architectures, with a proven track record of delivering AI-powered applications.

What you’ll do:

Lead design and development sprints

Coordinate with the development and operations team to define requirements for new features

Write technical requirements and design documentation

Implement new features and perform developer and integration testing

Review the existing architecture for sustainability and scalability as requirements evolve

Assist the hardware team in bringing up and testing new hardware.

Identify, research, and resolve issues raised by customers

Troubleshoot system failures and discrepancies

Define and execute regression test plans

Support internal and external users

Work with the operations team and customers to improve usability

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or engineering preferred, or equivalent work experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, including hands-on experience with AI/ML tools such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, and custom LLM integration for enterprise applications.

Experience designing and deploying scalable AI architectures in cloud-native environments

Familiarity with Python and frameworks for ML development and orchestration (e.g., LangChain, Hugging Face Transformers)

Experience in deploying, fine-tuning, or evaluating LLMs in real-world use cases is a plus

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated model testing is an asset

Strong knowledge of prompt engineering, vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone), and data embedding techniques for search and retrieval tasks

Solid understanding of AWS services including Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, and SageMaker Pipelines

Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) for AI-driven data modeling and query optimization

Self-motivated with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, agile environment

Strong communication (written and verbal) and documentation skills with a solution-oriented mindset
