Covenant Health has an exciting opportunity within the Digital Health and Clinical Informatics portfolio. This position as a Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) will support Women's health, Operative services and Emergency departments across Covenant Health Provincially. The CIL role is responsible for supporting the clinical information system (CIS) and providing ongoing clinical operations support. Reporting to the Digital Health and Clinical Informatics Program Manager, the CIL will provide ongoing leadership and optimization between individuals, departments, sites, and programs for the design, delivery, implementation, and optimization of the CIS. There is flexibility as to the location of this position within the Province of Alberta, and candidates from across the province are encouraged to apply. Description:The CIL provides expertise within their designated specialty area to facilitate issue resolution and identify opportunities for improvement involving the business processes and system requirements associated with the CIS. The CIL will be responsible for managing functions associated with clinical informatics including assessing and defining high-impact reports and measures and working with the clinical communities to encourage Connect Care’s adoption and use for improved clinical outcomes. It is critical that the CIL can identify and support the resolution of issues or support optimization. The CIL may take a coordinating role in engaging with operational clinicians (including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals), ensuring they are orientated to clinical informatics within the program and engage clinicians to participate in working groups. This role requires someone with superlative clinical informatics knowledge and experience, strong leadership, and communication skills. The CIL works in collaboration with all levels of clinical leadership, staff, and physicians to provide education and materials to assist end users in the adoption and appropriate use of the CIS to support excellence in clinical practice and quality patient outcomes. Additional Required Qualifications:
Proven project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues list, manage project plans). Strong communication and follow-up skills. Ability to participate and negotiate solutions to resolve conflicts that may arise. Ability to lead other IT and clinical operations staff through complex discussions and negotiate solutions. Highly detail-oriented with a strong aptitude for researching and uncovering critical information to fully understand the underlying needs that inform effective system design. Ability to work in a team environment and individually to build and maintain positive working relationships with partner organizations; operational leadership and external stakeholders will be key success factors in this role. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines are essential. Must have working knowledge of basic systems principles, theories, and concepts and of the healthcare business. Experience mentoring and supporting others. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Self-motivated with little supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership in organizational change, including management and leadership experience. Significant experience in the application of change management tools and methodologies. Certifications related to management, leadership, and change management. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible roles in health informatics. Experience & knowledge of Connect Care CIS strongly desired. CPHIMS certification and PROSCI certification are assets.
