Lead, Software Engineer

As a Lead Software Engineer at Pagero - Part of Thomson Reuters, you will be responsible for end-to-end software development, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of high-quality applications. You should have a strong grasp of software design patterns, full-stack development, and modern engineering practices such as automated testing and CI/CD. Beyond technical excellence, we are looking for a natural leader who can mentor junior engineers and drive team performance to meet business objectives. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams.

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Lead Software Engineer, you will:

Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software solutions aligned with business needs.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and DevOps.

Lead technical discussions, review code, and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.

Provide accurate task estimations and contribute to effective sprint planning and delivery.

Champion quality by implementing unit tests, automated testing, and performance tuning.

Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.

Contribute to defining development standards, architecture guidelines, and process improvements.

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer if your background includes:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or in any related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience developing multi-tier, enterprise-level applications using JVM-based technologies.

Interest in working with Scala and a willingness to explore functional programming paradigms.

Solid understanding of microservices architecture and containerization tools like Docker.

Strong experience working with relational databases and writing optimized queries.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.

Exceptional communication skills in English — both verbal and written.

Highly detail-oriented, organized, and systematic in your approach to development and project execution.

Fast learner with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and environments.

Agile mindset with the flexibility to handle shifting priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and organizational levels.

Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms is a plus.
