YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Real World Sciences Application Strategy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Bayer's complex, multi-modal data into high-impact applications that drive scientific innovation and accelerate our R&D pipeline. Your mission will be to strategically identify, align, and deliver a portfolio of data-driven solutions that address critical scientific questions. You will be responsible for translating the vision of the Digital Health Technology & Real-World Science team into a concrete roadmap, bridging the gap between our cutting-edge data science capabilities and the needs of our R&D project teams. Your work will ensure that the applications we build are innovative, valuable, and directly support our scientific goals.
Translate Strategy into Action: Collaborate across Data Science / AI organization to convert the high-level vision for Digital Health and Real-World Science into a practical, prioritized roadmap for application development, focusing on areas of highest impact for the R&D portfolio;Identify & Validate Opportunities: Engage proactively with R&D project teams to understand their key scientific challenges and identify opportunities where novel applications built on our real-world and clinical omics data can provide solutions and drive decisions;Drive the Application Lifecycle: Lead the end-to-end development of data application projects—from ideation, requirements gathering, and prototyping through to delivery, user adoption, and impact assessment;Serve as a Data Product Champion: Act as the subject matter expert on leveraging our unique data assets to build tools, dashboards, and predictive models, effectively communicating the "art of the possible" to stakeholders across the organization;Scout for Innovation: Continuously survey the landscape for new platforms and partnership opportunities that can accelerate and enhance our ability to deliver state-of-the-art real world data applications;Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, bioinformaticians, engineers, and clinical teams to architect and deliver robust, scientifically valid, and user-centric solutions;Ensure Governance and Compliance: Guarantee that all application development activities adhere to necessary regulatory, data privacy, and compliance standards.
WHO YOU ARE
Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) in a natural or computational science (e.g., bioinformatics, computer science, biology, statistics) or a related field;Significant experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, focusing on data analysis, data science, health informatics, or digital product management;8+ years of professional experience in roles focused on data science, health informatics, or digital product management within the life sciences industry;Direct, hands-on experience with the full product/project lifecycle for data-driven applications, including requirements gathering, prototyping, and delivery;Experience with multi-modal data (e.g., omics, imaging, EMR, clinical trial data) and an understanding of its unique challenges and opportunities;Familiarity with agile development methodologies;Demonstrated passion and experience in translating complex scientific questions into data-driven product strategies and tangible solutions;Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical R&D value chain and the clinical and regulatory environments (e.g., GCP, GxP);Strong technical acumen with an understanding of data architecture, analytics, machine learning concepts, and application development principles in the context of real-world and/or omics data;Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multicultural teams, translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and vice-versa;A results-oriented mindset with a strong ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders around a shared vision.
